My preferred way of cooking perfect fluffy brown rice


  • 250 grams/9 oz./1 large cup brown rice, rinsed thouroughly under cold water
  • 3 liter/3 quarts of water
  • 2 teaspoon salt


  1. Heat a large pot or saucepan with water and salt and let it come to a boil.
  2. Add grains to the boiling water, stir it once.
  3. Reduce heat and cook the rice uncovered at medium high heat for 30 minutes. Then turn off the heat.
  4. Drain it in a colander.
  5. Then return it quickly to the still hot pot.
  6. Let it sit in the covered pot for another 10 minutes.
  7. Remove the lid, lightly fluff the rice and serve.
  8. Eat and enjoy.
